The Challenge
Hilo, a new subsidiary of Hydro-Quebec, aimed to educate tens of thousands on responsible energy management and accelerate the adoption of intelligent products and services. This transformation required creating a secure, accessible, integrated communication and commerce platform.

The Solution
The project involved working with five teams to build the business from the ground up, define numerous integration points, information, and order lifecycle in a very short time. We also focused the software design for testability to ensure a highly secure and performant application with a feature-rich customer targeting system within a tight timeframe.
We adopted a two-phased approach. The first phase involved launching a tailor-made website in less than four months. The second phase, completed within nine months, introduced a fully transactional platform to handle new subscriptions. Verndale developed a cloud-based commerce foundation and an ecommerce site with flexible CMS modules, ensuring thorough testing for a seamless launch.

The Outcome
The resulting website, integrated with Hilo's customer relationship management (CRM) platform, optimized membership validation, enhancing customer service. It offered personalized user experiences and an optimized conversion funnel for customer acquisition. The innovative platform also supported "dark" launches for beta testing new features. Idéa, a creative competition, recognized the project with gold and silver awards for outstanding components and innovative development.
